Options

Items can be shown in different shaped and shaded boxes: rectangular, with rounded corners, with shading, with shadow: try out the various possibilities.

A photograph or other graphics file can be set as the background of a view. This might  simple be to make the view more attractive, but could also be used to improve the user's ability to remember the information being shown. Particularly if a school child likes the subject of the photograph, they might be motivated to "play" with the actual information, thereby learning it better. Adults might find photographs which help them memorise complex information, perhaps because the subject of the photo is related to the information, or because the shape (perhaps a river with tributaries) reminds them of the structure of the data. 

Alternatively, small graphics can be used to "tile" the background, usually to make the whole more attractive.

Activating the "Shadow" checkbox causes itmes and their links to have a shadow, which gives your view a 3-dimensional feel.

Elements are automatically adjusted to have their top left corners on a "grid" whose size you can set here. So if you set the grid to be 10, items can only have coordinates of 10, 20, 30 etc.

You might want to show arrows as dashed, particularly if you are printing to a black and white printer. Simply check the "Dashed arrows" box. (This settings is only valid during the current session, so after storing and reloading a project, "Dashed arrows" is automatically cleared.)

If you need the Clip-Art Toolbar frequently, you can cause i2Brain to show it by activating the last box in this dialog.

Use:

In the menu, choose "View | Options".

Zooming

It is sometimes necessary to decrease or increase the magnification of a view, either to get a better overview when items have scrolled out of view, or to concentrate the mind on a few items.

Use: 

Press the '+' or '-' keys. (Either on the normal keyboard or on the numerical keypad.)

If nothing happens, make sure that neither the description panel nor the scroll-bars have the focus. On some systems you might need to hold the Ctrl key down while pressing '+' or '-'.

Or you can hold the Ctrl key down and rotate the mouse-wheel.

Choosing which links to show

A view can become overloaded with information. Sometimes there are too many arrows. You can choose which colored arrows should be shown.

Use:

In the view's menu, choose "View | Show which links...".
