Views are synchronousChanges to an item are visible in all views immediately after editing is completed.
When you close a view (using the cross at the top right of the frame), the information about the items' positions is lost. so it is advisable to iconise views rather than close them. N.B. the items are not deleted, solely their positions on the view which you are closing. cf. "Storing and reading". If you have more than one view, and you delete an item in one of the views, that item is deleted! You cannot just hide an item. Improving a viewThe purpose of i2Brain is to visualise information so that connections and structure are clearer. Too much information at once prevents you seeing what you need to see. (You can't see the wood for the trees.) i2Brain offers a number of ways to get a helpful and informative view of your information:
Spreading items verticallyAfter you have entered more than about 20 items, the view can start to get a bit untidy. You can drag and drop them. Alternatively you can click "View | Spread vertically". Items are move up or down (never from side to side) so that they are evenly spaced vertically. So becomes: Column views offer a variation on this function: you can spread the items belonging to a single view: right-click the column's header and select "Spread vertically". |
